Expression of Interest (EOI)

Begin your journey towards IPv6 certification by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) through completing the form below. After your EOI is reviewed, selected participants will receive an invitation to enrol in the certification program. Upon enrolment, you’ll gain access to all learning materials and resources, and be invited to participate in the face-to-face training.

Please note that submitted an EOI is the first step in a two-step process. If you are not selected to receive an invitation to enrol, your application will be placed on a waiting list for future opportunities. This process ensures that the program is aligned with the readiness and needs of each participant.

Course Structure

The APNIC Academy IPv6 Certification (Associate) is a comprehensive 5-day, face-to-face bootcamp-style workshop course designed to provide network professionals with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to deploy and manage IPv6 networks. Through a series of structured modules, you’ll learn the essentials of IPv6, from addressing and header structure to routing and transition techniques.

This intensive bootcamp provides participants with in-depth theoretical instruction and practical, hands-on experience. Designed to ensure a comprehensive understanding of IPv6, the workshop offers a mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on insights, ensuring that you not only understand IPv6 concepts but are also prepared to implement them in real-world scenarios.

This workshop course is divided into 10 comprehensive modules:

Module 2: IPv6 Header
Module 3: IPv6 Address Types
Module 4: ICMPv6 and PMTUD
Module 5: NDP and IPv6 Address Configuration: Static and SLAAC
Module 6: IPv6 Address Configuration: DHCPv6
Module 7: IPv6 Multicast and MLD
Module 8: IPv6 Subnetting and Address Planning
Module 9: IPv6 Routing Basics
Module 10: Overview of IPv6 Transition Techniques

Exam

The APNIC Academy IPv6 Certification (Associate) can be earned by successfully completing the IPv6 Certification exam, which takes place onsite at the end of the face-to-face workshop. The exam is designed to assess participants’ knowledge and practical application of IPv6 concepts. A specific passing score will be required to earn the certification, ensuring that participants have met the necessary standards.

This certification validates your knowledge to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of IPv6 addressing and header structure.
  • Identify different IPv6 address types and their scopes.
  • Configure IPv6 addresses using methods like SLAAC and DHCPv6.
  • Explain the role of key IPv6-related protocols like ICMPv6, NDP, and MLD.
  • Perform IPv6 subnetting and create efficient address plans.
  • Understand the basics of IPv6 routing concepts and transition techniques.

The exam will be a combination of multiple-choice questions and practical scenarios that test your understanding an ability to apply IPv6 concepts in real-world situations. The exam is conducted online in a controlled, classroom environment.

The exam is expected to last approximately 2 hours, giving participants ample time to complete all sections. The exact duration will be confirmed closer to the exam date and communicated to candidates beforehand.

Upon successfully passing the exam, participants will be awarded an official IPv6 associate-level certification from APNIC, recognizing their expertise and readiness to work with and manage IPv6 networks.

Yes, it is. As this is a trial alpha version of the certification, we encourage participation from a broad range of individuals. However, the initial intake will be offered specifically in Nepal and the Philippines.

Yes, the certification is free for the initial intakes in 2024 covering both the face-to-face sessions and the exam. Please be aware that while catering will be provided during the training days, participants will need to arrange their own transport, visa, accommodation and morning and evening meals.

Participants should bring a laptop, a notebook for taking notes, and any personal identification required for the exam. Internet access will be provided at the training venue, so there’s no need to arrange your own. All other necessary materials will be supplied during the training. Additional information and details will be provided to candidates upon acceptance into the program.

While the exact number of intakes each year is yet to be determined, we anticipate offering several opportunities annually as the program evolves. Our goal is to expand access to as many participants in Asia and the Pacific as possible in coming years.

No formal prerequisites are required to take this certification. However, a basic understanding of networking concepts and some familiarity with IPv4 would be beneficial for participants. This course is designed to cater to both beginners and those looking to deepen their knowledge of IPv6.

Preparation materials and guidance will be provided throughout the workshop to help participants succeed.

The exam is conducted online in a classroom setting immediately after the workshop. Time will be allocated at the end of the workshop for participants to complete the exam.

Yes, participants who successfully pass the exam will be awarded an official certification.

No, recertification is not required at the moment for the alpha program. However, this may change in the future as the program evolves.
